CLORIS LEACHMAN looked ravishing at her 86th birthday soiree at the very hip Bagatelle in West Hollywood on Monday night. Friends and family toasted her and sang Happy Birthday as a cake and gigantic ice cream sundae were presented to her. She shared the ice cream with us all.

On the same night, new bistro FAUX PAS opened it's doors on 3rd ST. near the Farmer's Market. The lovely space offers many different mood rooms - from the lofty sky lit bar area, to the red leather booths and dark wood in the dining room, to the dark and mysterious little wine room with paintings that are creepy enough to attract the hipsters. Tuna, sliders, and my fave, turkey tetrazzini pops were served with wine to the appreciative guests. Only drawback is the lack of parking in the permit only neighborhood. Frankly, parking is becoming such a problem in LA that one might think that the valet companies have special powers down at City Hall...

DON'T FORGET this Sunday, May 6, to attend the fabulous BEVERLY HILLS CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE at Greystone Mansion. What a perfect setting to see classic autos from bygone era's restored to perfection. Dress up and live your DOWNTON ABBEY fantasies! For ticket information, contact the City of Beverly Hills website.

Having just returned from a cross county car trip PO!NT highly recommends that everyone that can take the time to travel by auto take this journey. Too often, those of us in urban areas use only the TV news for information about the rest of the U.S. When you actually visit the Midwest or Montana or Louisiana, you can meet people as different from you as Parisians or Londoners. Our country is huge and it would behoove everyone to travel it, not only for enjoyment, but to gain greater understanding about the way others live and think.
